1. Check your dispatch message first
After your order has been packed and collected, you will receive a dispatch update once the parcel is handed over to the courier. That message is the first place to check because it usually contains your waybill number, tracking reference, or the courier service name used for delivery. Keep it close, especially if you ordered during a busy week or just before a public holiday, when collections and linehaul times can shift.
If you placed your order from Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Polokwane, Gqeberha or a smaller town, the process is the same. The courier follows the parcel from our side to your delivery address or collection point, depending on the service selected. Please note that tracking only becomes active once the courier scans the parcel into their system, so there can be a short delay between dispatch and live tracking.
2. Use the waybill number to follow movement
Your waybill number is the main key for tracking. Enter it on the courier tracking page, or use the link provided in your dispatch message if one was included. Tracking often starts with a collection scan from Umhlanga or a nearby Durban depot, then shows the parcel moving through sorting hubs before it reaches your area. For coastal routes like Ballito, Amanzimtoti and the North Coast, delivery can be quicker than inland routes, but weather, traffic and load-shedding at scan points can still cause minor delays.
- Look for updates such as collected, in transit, arrived at hub, out for delivery, or delivered.
- If the status has not changed for 24 to 48 hours, give it a little more time before logging a query.
- Keep the reference safe until your parcel has been received and checked.
3. Understand the main tracking statuses
Courier status terms can be confusing if you do not follow deliveries often. The good news is that most updates are simple once you know what they mean. A parcel marked collected means it has left us. In transit means it is moving between courier hubs. At destination depot means it has reached the branch responsible for your area. Out for delivery means the driver has your parcel for that day, and delivered means the parcel has been completed on their system. If your tracking shows exception, delay, or held, it usually means the courier needs more time to clear an issue with routing, an address, or a missed scan.
For example, if you are in Westville, Hillcrest or Phoenix, the parcel may first be sorted through a Durban hub before heading to your local delivery zone. That is normal. Tracking often looks quiet for a while and then updates in one batch once the parcel is scanned again.
4. What to do if tracking has gone quiet
If your tracking has not moved for a day or two, do a quick check before you panic. Make sure the reference number was entered correctly, then confirm that your delivery address is complete and easy to find. A missing unit number, estate name or suburb can slow things down. This matters especially for apartment blocks, offices and secure complexes where couriers may need gate access or reception instructions.
- Check whether the parcel is still within the usual transit window for your province.
- Look for delivery notes sent to your contact details.
- Keep an eye on missed delivery attempts, which may require a redelivery or collection.
If the parcel has been still for longer than expected, send through your order details and waybill through the enquiry form on our contact page so the team can review it. Bonolo and the operations team will check the courier status and advise on the next step.
5. Delivery timing across South Africa
Courier times depend on the destination, road network, and how remote the address is. Large metro areas may move faster, while rural addresses and outlying towns can take longer. Durban and the surrounding areas often move well, but high rainfall, roadworks, event traffic and load-shedding related scanning delays can add time. Inland deliveries may also take an extra day or two compared with local KZN routes.
As a guide, allow a few working days after dispatch for most metro deliveries, and a little longer for outlying areas. If you need your order for an event, wedding, matric dance or shoot, place it early so there is time for courier movement and any final checks. This is especially important for lace front wigs, custom fitting work and colour matching, where timing matters.
6. When to contact Hair Fair about tracking
Please reach out if the parcel is marked delivered but you have not received it, if the address was entered incorrectly, or if the tracking number does not show any movement after a reasonable period. Tariro and the customer care team will help review the status and can advise whether the parcel is with the courier, at a depot, or awaiting a redelivery attempt.
For fast help, use the enquiry form on our contact page and include your name, order number, waybill reference, suburb, and a short note about what you are seeing on the tracking page. That gives us enough detail to follow up properly. If your parcel is headed to Umhlanga, Durban North, La Lucia, Ballito, Westville, Hillcrest, Phoenix or Amanzimtoti, we can also check whether the route is likely to affect delivery timing.
- Order number
- Waybill or tracking reference
- Suburb and province
- Brief note on the issue
Once your parcel is in courier hands, tracking is the best way to monitor progress. A few scans may look quiet at times, but most parcels keep moving and arrive as expected.
