Why people enjoy working here
Based in Umhlanga, Durban and serving clients across Durban North, La Lucia, Ballito, Westville, Hillcrest, Phoenix and Amanzimtoti, our team works with real people who want practical advice and a clean, professional fitting experience. The pace can be busy, especially before weddings, matric dances and year end functions, so we value people who stay calm, organised and friendly under pressure.
We also work with couriered orders nationwide, which means attention to detail matters every day. From checking cap sizes to preparing parcels for dispatch, each step must be handled properly because many clients are placing trust in us from out of town. Our work suits people who like structure, customer care and hands-on service, not just sales talk.
Roles we hire for
We do not post a fixed vacancy list here, but we regularly consider people for customer-facing and behind-the-scenes roles. Depending on the needs of the business, this can include wig fitting, lace customising, colour matching, content support, retail service, operations and customer care.
- Wig Fitting Specialist
- Hair Consultant or Sales Support
- Operations and Dispatch Support
- Customer Care and Enquiry Handling
- Content, product education and social media support
Some roles need direct client interaction while others focus on stock handling, admin or preparation. If you have strong people skills, steady hands, and you understand that detail matters, there may be a place for you here.
What we look for in applicants
We prefer people who are punctual, neat and respectful of client privacy. Previous experience in wigs, extensions, salon work, retail or beauty is helpful, but it is not the only thing we consider. A willingness to learn, ask questions and follow process counts for a lot.
Because we assist clients with private consultations and in-person fittings, professionalism is important. You should be comfortable working with a range of hair textures, cap sizes and personal style preferences. We also look for good communication, a steady work ethic and the ability to keep service consistent even on a busy Saturday.
- Good customer service and listening skills
- Basic computer and admin confidence
- Neat personal presentation
- Comfortable working in a team
- Interest in hair, beauty and client care
How to apply through the contact page
If you would like to join our team, send your CV through the enquiry form on our contact page and include a short note about the kind of role you are interested in. If you have experience with wig fitting, lace customising, event styling or retail service, mention that too.
Please include your suburb or town, your availability and any relevant training or work history. We review applications as opportunities come up, so there is no need to wait for a specific vacancy to be listed. List your suburb, contact details and recent experience clearly so we can place your application properly.
Working standards on the floor and in the fitting room
We expect a tidy workspace, careful handling of stock and clear communication with clients. In-store fittings, private consultations and virtual consultations all need the same level of attention, whether the job is a quick clip-in install or a full wig refresh.
Durban humidity, transport delays and load-shedding can all affect daily operations so flexibility helps. Team members who stay composed, keep plans moving and solve small problems quickly tend to do well here, especially when bookings run back to back and a client needs help now, not later.
A team built around service
Hair Fair is led by Nkosazana Chauke and supported by a team that understands both styling and client care. Across store, fittings, operations and education, each person contributes to a setting where clients can ask questions, compare options and leave feeling properly helped.
If you want to work in a business where presentation matters, where service is personal and where the work is practical every day, we encourage you to apply. We look for people who bring care, consistency and a willingness to learn. That is what keeps the standard high.
